Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Organization:Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Duty station: Kampala Minimum Qualifications: Explain specimen collection procedures to patients and collect samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Keep the laboratory environment safe and secure for the staff and other laboratory users. Process and test laboratory specimens, interpret results and ensure quality of laboratory results according to SOPs using a range of automated equipment and manual techniques, in a timely manner. Carry out routine maintenance and performance checks on equipment and report unresolved defects to the Laboratory Coordinator in a timely manner Maintain adequate stocks of chemicals, reagents and consumables and keep stock records according to the standard operating procedures to avoid stock outs. Review the laboratory procedures and design operational guidelines to be used in mentoring junior laboratory staff a
