As
the Gender Advisor with Youth Social Advocacy Team (YSAT), you will support the
development of an organizational gender policy, encourage gender mainstreaming
in all programs and services and integrate gender-specific indicators into
monitoring and evaluation frameworks

YSAT’s knowledge and understanding of gender equality and increase the practice
of integrating gender equality into the organization’s programming, resource
mobilization, communications, and impact measurement.

Role and
Responsibilities:
·
Conduct a gender
analysis of the Youth Social Advocacy Team (YSAT)
·
Develop Gender and
Social Inclusion strategies for the organization
·
Work with YSAT Team to
develop a Gender Policy for the organization
·
In collaboration with
the Monitoring and Evaluation team, develop gender equality indicators and
methodologies for tracking changes in gender and social inclusion, including
developing gender impact assessment tools
·
Design and deliver
training sessions on gender equality and social inclusion for project staff.
·
Support YSAT to
integrate gender language in external communication materials, such as the
website, on Facebook, and in blog posts
·
Support implementation
of gender equality and gender mainstreaming initiatives such as gender audits,
gender-sensitive work planning and gender budgeting
·
Develop templates to
capture gender-specific success stories and cases studies for YSAT
·
Support YSAT to apply an
environmental sustainability lens in the execution of all activities and scan
for opportunities to include climate action in their operations, programming,
and governance.
·
Ensure that a gender
equality lens is consistently applied in the execution of all activities
·
Use an intersectional
lens to ensure the inclusion and participation of young women and other
marginalized youth, as well as their representation, in all activities related
to communications
·
Participate in
pre-assignment training
·
Participate in at least
3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment.
Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve
these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public
Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment.
·
Submit reports as
required by the partner organization and by WUSC.
Qualifications
·
Degree and/or training in gender studies, sociology, or another
related field
·
Demonstrated experience in gender and social inclusion and women’s
economic empowerment.
·
Previous experience in organization gender strategy development
·
Knowledge and understanding of policy frameworks that impact
gender equality, social inclusion, and the status of women
·
Experience in monitoring and evaluation would be considered an
asset
·
Ability to do research, analyze information, and draw insights
